Weekly Video Game Releases

This week we see three major game release: Shadows of the Damned, F.E.A.R. 3, and Dungeon Siege 3.

Shadows of the Damned is a third person shooter/horror game that places you in hell while chasing your girlfriend. Filled with goat heads, one-eyed flying monsters, demons, and a floating skull named Johnson, it's by far one of the weirdest and most unique games you will ever play.

F.E.A.R. 3 is the third installment in the first-person shooter/horror franchise F.E.A.R. You play as Point Man, a science experiment gone wrong, in an attempt to save the world from inevitable doom. In FEAR 3, your main goal is to stop the monster from having her demon child. If you don't mind pissing your pants once in a while, this is a must play.

Dungeon Siege 3 is a dungeon crawler. Nothing more to really say about it. You can play single player or cooperatively, fighting medieval creatures and looting everything in your path.

Look for reviews on Shadows of the Damned and F.E.A.R. 3 to be posted shortly, along with reviews from strengthgamer.com.

L.A. Noire "Nicholson Electroplating" DLC Out Now

Ready for more Cole Phelps? Do you miss his awkward movements and horrible detective work? You're in luck! The DLC case for L.A. Noire, “Nicholson Electroplating” is now available for download via PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE!. For holders of the Rockstar Pass, the case is now unlocked for download at no extra charge (besides the one you paid for the Rockstar Pass).

About Nicholson Electroplating Case

This case places Cole Phelps and Biggs at the site of a destroyed Nicholson Electroplating plant. Facing only rubble and destruction, there are more than a few unanswered questions. What caused the explosion? What were the employees working on? Where are Dr. Harold McLellan and his female assistant? Is that the Spruce Goose?! It's your job to answer these questions in typical Cole Phelps style.

  • MAACO Bowl Las Vegas (Thu., Dec. 22, 5 p.m. on ESPN) – Pac-12 No. 5/6 vs. MWC

My money is on the University of Oregon to be in the National Championship game again. Go Ducks!

NHL 12 "Be A Pro" Mode Will Set the Standard

NHL 12 Be a Pro RevampedThe release date of NHL 12 is set for September 13, 2011. Believe me when I tell you, this game is going to be awesome. More specifically the new "Be A Pro" Mode (Be A Pro is the NHL series' Career Mode). Since 2009 EA sports has featured Be A Pro in it's games. In 2009, the fact that it existed made it amazing, but there was still much to be desired. In 2010, the game was great, although unrealistic and most importantly too hard to upgrade a player. However, in 2011 EA nailed the attribute improvement. So, with new and improved gameplay and an excellent system for upgrading players (Yes MLB11: The Show, it is important to be able to upgrade your player) what else is there to do?

They brainstormed, and they came up with the new EA Sports Action Tracker. It's like "Simulate to next appearance" in MLB, only better... In case you can't tell, I wasn't a big fan of the MLB Career Mode. The feature simulates to the players next shift in the game. Also a new addition, players have to earn their ice time with all new player tasks:

By achieving your goals, the coaches reward you with ice time. Fail miserably, and you'll get less ice time than George Parros. You may ask, "Well, who is George Parros?" My answer... EXACTLY. This game mode is going to be amazing. Excellent Gameplay. New live goalies, goalie fighting, better hitting mechanics. A great attribute upgrading system, new in-game goals... and ultimately Lord Stanley's Cup. EA hasn't even clued us in on all the details of the new features. This game looks like a top notch sports simulation game and, in my opinion, will easily rival Madden this year. Basically, if you haven't gotten the message and you are still reading: NHL 12 Be A Pro will be awesome. Keep your eye out for more on the NHL series in the future...

You stay classy San Diego

University of Oregon Football lack Text Message Records

According to a recent article by Rachal Bachman of The Oregonian, reports requested from the University of Oregon are missing one key detail - text messages. When the Oregon Public Record's Law was inacted in 1961, they had no way of knowing that text messages would exist. Due to this, the law does not require records to be kept of SMS messages.

While attention has been brought to this situation, and the law will most likely be changed, confusion is at an all-time high. How are records supposed to be kept? Should every athlete and individual surrounding the organization be required to save every text? The cell phone companies themselves don't archive them as the servers would explode.

Who knew that text messaging would be the future of crime.

Manliest Image Ever - Hitman Absolution Delivers

Thanks to the video game art geniuses over at deadendthrills.com for the above image. It is taken from Hitman: Absolution and is now the wallpaper on my phone.

I don't think anything can be more manly than a rattlesnake wrapped around a handgun (probably a .48 cal).
